The origins of the manufacturer
Jeep is an American automobile manufacturer founded in 1941. Now, the brand is a division of Chrysler Group LLC, a subsidiary of the Italian automaker Fiat S.p.A. The automaker produced its first model Willys MB Jeeps in 1941 but it was only in February 1943 that Willys-Overland, considered as the founder of Jeep filed the original trademark brand-name application. During the 1940s, Jeep vehicles and its famous high-beam headlamps was considered as an undisputed leader in 4x4 technology and the first Willys MB Jeeps inspired light utility vehicles like the Land Rover.
Jeep and the US Army
The story of automobile manufacturer Jeep is always linked with the US Army. In facto, the United States government launched a call for tenders focused on four-wheel-drive reconnaissance car prototypes and Willys-Overland successfully realized the final model that met the requirements of the government. It became the first light 4-wheel-drive vehicle of the United States Army.
The pioneer of off-road vehicles
Jeep is certainly the pioneer of off-road vehicles. It produces only off-road and utility vehicles. In the past, the manufacturer produced pickup trucks.
